We offer only baremetal OSD using boot key. So we blindly target all known and unknown systems (~90k systems) even while knowing most majority of imaging works on unknown systems ( new employee etc) with small percentage aimed at re-image of known systems.
Everytime an OSD admin makes a task sequence change, we go through the policy storm across infrastructure bringing MPs down to its knees.
So my question is what is the easiest way to make all known systems as unknown systems (ofcourse without deleting 80k records)
I am seriously considering changing stored procedure to return MP query as imaging machine is a unknown system. I know this is unsupported etc etc. But this greatly reduces the risk of policy storm whenever new TS is advertised to all systems. Can anyone
share some insight on this ? Is there a better way to handle this scenario given the way we use OSD? We do have process guidance to not to do TS changes during business hours etc. But all these are soft controls. I am looking for more technical solution to
prevent targeting to known systems yet provide them option to re-image.
