I am trying to use SCCM 2007/MDT 2010 to install Windows 7 on an HP Blade. I could not, even with HP's help, get the NIC to work in WinPE, so I created Stand Alone Media. It worked great on the first blade, but that's it.
I'm hamstrung by the limitations imposed by not having a working NIC and it's driving me crazy. I can't copy the SMSTS.LOG file off of this system, because again, no NIC until it boots to the full OS. Nor have I found any way to connect, via the HP iLO to a WRITEABLE virtual device. I'm stuck reading the SMSTS.log file with notepad on an 800x600 console. Yuck.
Enough complaining.
The log file reports:
Successfully complete the action (Partition Disk) with the exit win32 code 0
Sending status message
Do not send status message in full media case
Set a global environment variable
Set a global environment variable
Expand a string:" %_SMSTSSMDataPath%\Logs
Then nothing, and process crashes. I was thinking about making new media files - I should note that this when I made the previous media files, it was three 8.5GB .ISO files. It's a whippin' to install the OS, but at least it worked...once.
Any other ideas?
