No Valid Network Adapter Found

I have never had so much trouble with any Dell or Lenovo modal than I have with the Latitude e6440. I have tried so many different things with varying varying degrees of success.

Right now I am using the latest Drive cab (A07) file released by Dell (I have also used at least three previous versions). I am applying it with the "Apply Driver Package" step. Initially I was using "Auto apply drivers" but this didn't help much. I always update the DP's after making any changes. I have tried downloading the network driver manually and loading it into the driver package, but it only adds a duplicate entry.

When I PXE boot and press F8 I get an IP address and I can see the C: drive.

The imaging process seems to go through all the steps and takes about 1/2 an hour before it reboots with only the OS installed, but no applications, no network adapter, etc. I check the smsts.log and it says "no valid network adapter found" followed by many other errors obviously.

I have tried disabling some of the other network adapters...even loading WMItools to see what vendor device is actually on the E6440. I think I even disabled all network drivers except for Intel I217-LM Ethernet Connection, but have not tried that with this latest driver package from Dell.

Initially when I was trying to image this laptop it would start imaging and then show the "apply drivers screen" and be stuck at like 64% for up to 4 hours before it finally completes. Thankfully I'm not getting that right now and I'm not sure why...

Anyone have any ideas?
