Hi there
Quick scenario.
We have created a task sequence prestaged media .wim file (SCCM 2007, client OS is Windows XP). We give one of our hardware suppliers a copy of this .wim file, and they apply it to a stock of machines which are used for quick swap-out in the event of desktop hardware failures.
Recently some of these swap-out machinses, on delivery and start up, have started showing this message:
'Certificate has expired for this media'.
I assume this is because the self-signed certificate created during the prestaged media creation process has expired.
Fair enough, you might think. What I can't understand is that only some swap-out machines show this error on start up.
This doesn't make sense to me. If the self-signed cert in the prestaged media our hardware supplier uses has expired, that would surely affect all swap-out machines created from that same .wim file?
The quick solution is to quickly create new prestaged media with an extended self-signed cert.
However I'd like to know if there is a way to locate the expiry date of a prestaged media self-signed certificate AFTER the machine has completed its build process.
I would really like to be able to check one of the swap-out machines which have not displayed the certificate expiry error and if possible get the expiry date of the prestaged media the machine was built from.
Is this possible?
Best regards
John
