Running a program before task sequence

I am in the process of upgrading machines from XP to WIN7 using a task sequence and have set to run a program first in the advacned options.  I would like to display an popup box which has a countdown timer and has an "ok" button for users to click to proceed.  So if, the timer max is reached, the task sequence commences, or if the user clicks OK it continues on.

I've managed to create the program using HTA and it pops-up (found here: http://blogs.technet.com/b/deploymentguys/archive/2008/12/04/user-experience-for-configuration-manager-task-sequences-part-i.aspx), however the task sequence continues to run without waiting for the program to close. I think that the program laucnhes the"bat" file and thinks it's good to go further, which isnt the case.

In the past we've used a simple vbs script (like this one: http://www.pctools.com/guides/scripting/detail/144/?act=reference), but this time we'd like to have some nier features: larger window, color and countdown timer.
