WINPE VLAN Configuration - OSD

Hi,

We are starting to use LACP and TRUNK mode for our servers connected to the network (BLADE SERVERS).  This is a major change for us from a networking perspective.  In the past, we have simply used directly connected NIC ports.

Anyway, my current environment is SCCM 2007 SP2 R3.  I have MDT integrated into SCCM.  We are deploy Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008 / R2 via SCCM OSD.  Our servers are all Dell servers using Broadcom NICs.

Here is how we have OSD configured:

  • Tech manually boots the server to SCCM WINPE
  • Tech manually enters an IP address (this allows WinPe communication to the SCCM environment)
  • Tech will see advertised build task sequences (optional) and pick one to start the build.

Now that VLAN tagging has been added to our network, when the tech boots in the second step and configures and IP address, the communication does not work.  The networking department tells us that we must enter a VLAN tag.  However, we have not idea how to enter a VLAN tag in Windows PE.

Is it possible to use VLAN tagging in WinPe?
