I have a question about overwriting data in the SMP when using SCCM 2007 SP2 (no R). I had the following scenario:
XP SP3 to Win 7 migration. The OSD TS captures the data with USMT, it stays on the SMP. The machine gets wiped out. Win 7 comes down, drivers plug and play, then the build fails and never makes it to the restore from SMP. I now don't have the data anywhere except on the SMP. I know I can use the command line to restore it manually. In the case, the machine was imaged again, so needless to say, it didn't have any data to capture, overwrote the data store on the SMP and when it was done, all user data was of course gone.
I know the advert should have been set to always rerun ( I didn't set it that way :-) )but it did.
Question is, is there anyway to prevent the SMP data from being written over and wiped out? In a perfect world, it wouldn't rerun and wipe it all out, but I have been ask to provide a solution.
Any ideas?
