I'm trying to create a USB version of the current network re-image of machines. So that computers with weak network connections can still be re-imaged using the USB.
I've selected Stand-alone media to create a bootable USB from SCCM 2007 that includes everything on the task sequence with the exception of retaining the existing computer name.
Is there a way to maintain the existing computer name on USB Stand-alone media? The Task Sequence does capture Windows/Network settings and migrates computer name but when you create the usb it doesn't seem to save the computer name. Instead it gives it a new name starting with MINT******.
To fix this I have to basically delete the computer name from AD and then rename the computer and re-join to domain.
Any advice on this is much appreciated.
